Chapter Five
Olive was furious; her car was totaled, something she sure as hell didn’t need right now, and she hurt like hell. Then, the doctor kept telling her she needed to stay the night there, that she had two broken ribs and a slight concussion.
“No, I have to deliver my tins. I promised them,” she growled.
“What is so important about these cookie tins that you would risk yourself,” Rory came into the room, snarling. “You will do what the doctor orders.”
She glared at the man. “What is important is that they are for two ladies who can’t leave their homes without help. They are more-or-less shut-ins and don’t get any company. I promised them I would come, and I will not let them down,” she snapped and moaned at the same time, her head starting to throb. “What if he stays with me, watches me, and helps me?” She peeked at the doctor.
The doctor glanced at Rory and sighed. “Do you promise to make her rest, and she must be woken every few hours, at least for the rest of the night. Your face is going to bruise, so do not be surprised in the morning. You will allow your man here to help you do everything.”
“Great, I get a doctor who is an alpha, too,” she mumbled and heard Rory’s snort.
“You think the doctor is tough, wait ‘til I get you home,” Rory growled.
“Ha, already hurt, not much more you can do,” she mumbled and closed her eyes, trying to ease the headache.
“Not to worry, the meds I gave you will be kicking in here in a bit. I’ll have the prescription filled, so you won’t have to stop and the paperwork sent in soon,” the doctor said, leaving the room, the curtain sliding closed.
She peeked up, and sure enough, Rory was standing over her, staring down at her. “Now, tell me the truth, how are you doing?” he asked, and by the tone in his voice, she knew better than to lie. Her luck, he would be just like Alex and know if she fibbed.
“I hurt like hell. It feels like I have the little drummer boy playing on the inside of my head, and the three wise men stomped on my ribs,” she said, earning a laugh from him.
“Rory,” she started to say, but he placed his finger on top of her lips.
“Rest, we will speak later, but know I will not leave you. I told you earlier you are mine, and I meant it, and if I didn’t mean it then, I sure as hell do now. Watching that asshole hit you, let’s just say never again, Olive. I can honestly say I understand how Alex felt meeting you.”
She moaned. “But, I’m not a Sadist.”
He leaned down and nipped her ear. “We’ll work this out. Not to worry. Sleep, I have a feeling it will take them a few to get the papers ready,” he said, pulling a chair over to the side of the bed, taking her hand into his, squeezing it.
